Is there a need for a document automation AddIn for NetSuite? Note: This is not marketing. For that reason I am not mentioning my company name or product. This is market research to see if we should integrate our solution with NetSuite. And if we do, what are the use cases we should first focus on. By document automation I mean an application where you can design document templates in Word, Excel, & PowerPoint, and include your business logic as well as data to pull from NetSuite in them. And then set events in NetSuite that will then generate & route those documents. (There's a lot more, but that's the crux of it.) Do you think there is a need for this? And if so, what particular need(s) do you see? And for those needs, what particular document(s) do you think people would use this for to generate? Or any other thoughts on this please. thanks - dave

Hi Dave. I think we would use it if we didn't have adaptive as a reporting system. Netsuite doesn't make it easy to prepare board reports, management reports or investor presentations even though 90%+ of the information is in our Netsuite system. Generally you're kicking out saved searches or Trial Balances and messing around with them to create visualisations. In general I think advanced pdf does a good enough job of generating documents for external consumption, but there are a few customers who request additional information that is quite painful to get together through workflow. The other advantage I suppose would be you could stop storing documents in your netsuite instance and instead store them in the cloud of your choice which is orders of magnitude cheaper than netsuite with their limits (albeit they don't seem to really enforce them unless you're not increasing licences)
