I have an item group that contains ~5 inventory items and 1 discount of -$100. But when I add 2 of the Item Group to a Sales Order, the quantities of all the inventory items double (as expected) but the discount remains -$100, when I'd like it to double to -$200. Is there a better way to handle this?
m
Are you certain it isn't doubling the discount? I just tested in a demo account and my discount doubles. I don't see a quantity, but the rate is -$100 and Amount is -$200 Picture below is created from an item group
e
Hmmm... mine doesn't double for some reason
My discount in this example is -$129.99 (not -$100 like I said before)
@MySuite Could you tell me what type of item "Test Discount Test Discount" is in your example? I'm assuming Discount for Sale but want to confirm
m
Maybe this will help narrow it down. Originally I had a Discount for Purchase in the item group. That doubled. I changed to discount for sale and it did not
e
That does help! Though, I don't see a way to create a Discount for Purchase. I only have the option to create Discounts, and when I save, the type becomes Discount for Sale (?)
Nmv - I found this article. Apparently the account determines whether its for sale or for purchase https://www.netsuiterp.com/2018/09/discount-for-sale-vs-discount-for.html

Could you use a percent-based discount in this instance? That would inherently scale with quantity, though I know sometimes the math might not work out well to hit an exact price...
k
Does your discount have a quantity defined in your item group BOM? It seems off to me that it doesn't include that.
e
No quantity included for the Discount in the the Item Group. I don't believe discounts ever have quantities, do they?
k
Gah. Youre right.
Could you use a non inventory item to get the same behavior?
e
Yes. That's the workaround I've found so far. Just setting a negative price on a non-inventory item. I just don't know if that's really the "right" way to handle it
