We have service items that are used in multiple projects. However, when the service items are used on the Time Entries, the rates of the service items differ per projects. The rate of service item per project is fixed (employees do not matter). What is the best practice to achieve this? Thank you.

Are you using Charge-based billing?

Not yet. But we are willing to if it will solve our problem. I took a look at it and it doesn't seem to solve our problem. We can't set any default rate in the time-based rule.

Non-charge based billing you can set the rate on the project task assignment Charge based billing you would need to use billing rate cards. Big assumption here though - are you assigning all resources entering time to the project task or letting anyone track time against any project?

In some cases, we have more than one service item in one project task that is used by a resource. Assigning the rate on project task is for one service item only (rates vary per service item). Charge-based billing seem to work but we want to try to avoid this as this seems to be a little bit more complex.
