In Assembly Builds, is there a way to over-write the component pricing as opposed to it pulling in the cost from the underlying inventory item?
r
I think the cost is tied to the purchase order/item receipts records, I don't think item costing is influenced by work orders at all
I assume that's what you mean by component pricing
d
correct, the work order doesn't have GL impact, but the Assembly Build does. It pulls information from the item file. For example, we have 2 fillers who charge a different rate, but the assembly build only pulls in 1 hard-coded fill price
r
Do you know what price it puts into the GL when you make an assembly build, my best guest is it's using the avg cost field on the component
d
for fill labor (service for purchase) it pulls Field ID: cost
r
just to confirm, the assembly build uses that field?

what costing methods are on the assembly
from what I can tell here, we have average costing set, and we have a part for 1 $ from one vendor and 2$ from another vendor, if we buy 500 from each vendor when I build the assembly it will use $1.5 in the GL for cost
looks like you can customize how this works in diff ways https://netsuite.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/28128/kw/costing%20method
this says you can set a actual cost incurred for assembly builds
it's a feature you have to enable
