It's a weekend. Normally they do it during the week, so if something blows up you can be working on it over business hours. If the update happens on a Saturday either you have to monitor it over the weekend to ensure something doesn't blow up or just hope it doesn't and deal with the fallout Monday. And if something does blow up on (which has never happened to me for the record), then you're working on the weekend to fix.
