Hi everyone, I'm a custom record type newbie and am trying to put a solution together that would use multiple custom records. One of the things we see is packages of job ads. Customers purchase a package and then get credits they use to place ads. The purchase of the package and use of the credits are in a third-party system. When we went to this third party nearly a year ago, we lost a lot of package management and reporting from our homegrown system. We now want to build out a solution in Netsuite to replace that functionality. We already import the transactions into Netsuite. I think we need custom records for: 1. the package - would contain data like package id, start/end dates, Employer, product, number of credits purchased, number remaining, etc. 2. the Employer - these are not currently in Netsuite - they're a lower level than our Customers, who are primarily Universities. The Employer may be a department. 3. credit usage - package id, trx date, credit used Ideally we would create records for these from the transaction records - if the transaction has a product that is a package, create the package records and the employer record if it doesn't exist. If the transaction is using a credit, add a row to the credit usage table. Does that sound right? Is it possible to create a custom record from a workflow? I'm trying to think how we could use the transaction data to create the records with a workflow, but I don't think we can? Thanks!

Sounds about correct. you would have have to the following:
1. Create the custom records. Customization>List,Records, Fields >Record Types>New 2. Once you create the record, go back into and add the fields on the bottom 3. You can then use them in work flows for once those are created https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/section_N2876492.html
Also, you'll want to make use of parent/child fields on the custom records https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/section_N2885788.html

Hi Mike - thanks for the response! To clarify, my question about using workflow to create custom records, I meant to create the data for the custom records. But I think that will most likely need to be scripted since workflows are limited to a single record type. I will definitely review the links you sent.

Gotcha, there should be a "Make Record" action in the workflow. So aftersubmit of your trigger record, you can add an action for each record that needs to be created.

I didn't know about that action - thanks!
