Currently, the amortization JEs' classifications are just copied (cannot be edited directly on JE) from the source transaction (Vendor Bill in our case).
All balance sheet accounts must be assigned to a 'dummy' department and the expense accounts are associated with the specific depts.
When creating the Vendor Bill with Amortization Template, it is assigned to the specific Department so that it will flow through the Amortization JEs. But the GL Impact of the Vendor Bill is posted to the Prepaid Expense and to the specific Dept (which must be the 'dummy' Dept. since it's a BS account).
That's why we are manually creating a JE to reclassify the Dept of the Prepaid Expense. We are planning to 'automate' it via workflow. It seems that it's not possible to populate automatically JE fields with the prepaid expense, old and new departments and amount using Create Record or Go to Record. Any other approach? Thanks!
