@alien4u Thing I'm wary of is that the custom record could be updated by a UE but also directly or through uploads etc. Sounds like I may need to create a SuiteLet for the case where the record is updated from a UE trigger and a UE on the custom record for other circumstances

Is there a way to retrieve JUST the name (and not the preceding hierarchy of names) for a company/contact using SS? We have hierarchy turned on because usually we want it, but in certain cases I just want the final name of the entity. I know I could split on “:” but am concerned we may have some company names that include a colon.

@jen here’s a function I used in a saved search. The idea is to reverse the string and then find the first occurence of the : and then reverse it again to get the name.

@jen data entry clean up! It’s like reserved words in programming — you’re not supposed to use them, if you do it’s to your peril.

ok…but …. I joined the company two years ago and we’ve been using NS since 2006. Also, how would you even search for names with colons in them, lol. They will all match if they have a parent.

Plus, some companies will have legal names that include a colon
