I created a custom record and maintaining a list of them . My requirement is once i click new button , before adding that entry into the list , it has to check whether the security token is valid or not .For this encryption i need to use the N/Crypto Module . So i created a client script and in the function

saveRecord(scriptContext)

i can write a condition check to check whether token is valid or not before saving . I am kind of stuck here because if its normal condition i can check , But i need to use the N/Crypto module in client script .As client script dont support this module , is there any workaround for this like calling a server script from client script or any other way . Please advice .

@samantha you can create a wrapper for Google’s Crypto.js functions and then reference and use that on both server and client side or just the client side.

@Eric B i am already using netsuite's crypto module in multiple scripts . It will be a lot of rework to use non-netsuite crypto . I am looking for a workaround to use the netsuite's crypto

@samantha how about calling a RESTlet from the client script to do the work and return either a true or false value after the security token is validated via the N/Crypto module?

beforeSubmit

User Event which do all your crypto related stuff and if there is an error redirect to the same just created record in EDIT mode and a message indicating the error...

Otherwise return to the just created record in view mode and a Success message...

That is one way...

2- You could create a Suitelet which Mimic the Create New Record Entry Form/Interface and do all you need with the Suitelet because it run server side and just create the custom Record if the validation is right or error out if missing something or is wrong...

@samantha Calling a Suitelet is a lot easier, you may need to deploy it available without login and you can use POST or GET to send and get data/response from it...

But again I will create a Suitelet for data entry/validation and if pass my validation the Suitelet would create the Custom Record... that is the way best way I think...

@samantha I view each type of script based on this analogy. Suitelets are like web pages/web apps. They are useful and good for when you need interaction with the UI. RESTlets are like your very own crafted APIs that return data based on the exposed methods you make available via the RESTlet and return data based on the parameters you send it.

@samantha because your process is dealing with validating security tokens it would make more sense to use a RESTlet because by its very nature accessing RESTlets require authentication. @alien4u is correct that Suitelets are easier to to deploy but you’d “lose” the security feature by making it available without login.

@aaz Not unless you pre-calculate it using scripting, writing it into a field on the Parent.

@aaz you could count/group in memory instead of in the search, assuming 'without using group' you mean not using GROUPing in the search. I think that's perhaps the same thing Olivier is suggesting?

trying to script item location configuration which is on the inventory item when some of the advanced inventory features are enabled. doing a count gives me -1 when i expected about 10 lines. what does the -1 indicate?
