Anyone know the logic/math behind the ‘Remaining’ field on the Charges Summary tab? Field level help says ‘This is the total charge amount that has not been billed or put in the Ready stage.’ but the amount doesn’t equal any combination of charges on my project….

I've never had a reason to include resources on a project template.

How do you prevent a project resource from tracking time on one task but allow them to track time on another (same project). In other words, if a project resource is working several tasks of a project, is there a way to prevent them from tracking time on a particular task? In other words, if a project resource is working task a, b and c, how can we prevent them from tracking time on task a? Task a, b and c are on one project.

Hi. Is it possible to attach project on a vendor bill so that the expenses from that vendor bill would be attached to project profitability report and other reports?

@Antti Runtuvuori You should be able to select the customer/project on the vendor bill line. Do you see the field on the vendor bill?

You might have to turn on a feature or accounting preference to do that - but it is definitely standard functionality

Make sure the field isn't hidden on the sublist fields tab on your form

Happy new year everybody!!! Here’s a quick one. I’m finding that the ‘Actual Work’ system-calculated field on projects is not ignoring rejected time entries. Is there a workaround for this OTHER than deleting the rejected time entries? Worth submitting a case or no?

Wondering if anyone out there has enabled the Planned Work feature after projects were created in their system? We are about to enable and want to make sure we don't end up with any unforseen issues. When we tick the box to enable, we get a pop up that states "_Enabling this feature triggers a recalculation of all projects and their project plans without a Closed status. Projects that are finished but have not been set as Closed may have adjustments made to the percent complete, billing, or revenue recognition._" Obviously, anything that talks about adjustments to revenue recognition causes some worry. We use the Percent Complete Override on all our projects for revenue recognition, so I'm not sure that this will actually cause any problems though. Any help/insight is greatly appreciated!

@rudler Greg, there is a native import tool for this Activites > Scheduling > Project Tasks > Import. Be careful though because you literally cannot do edits through this tool (have to do them through the UI or scripting) so make sure your import file is airtight.

Hello everyone! I have a case which the customer wants to prevent charges from Sales Orders to be generated, only from the weekly time sheet, is there any way to establish a time based rule avoiding the sales orders charges?

We have custom "resource groups" aka employee groups for resource assignments on projects in our implementation. I see that native resource groups now exist, but I do not see a way to add them to the project form. Is that possible?

Anybody know of a non-custom record/suitelet solution for a reporting requirement on projects with charge based billing AND item fulfillments to produce a single monthly report of FORECASTED (ie unbilled but pending) billings? There’s a Project Billings Report that helpfully collects all charges (pending, planned, billed todate, remaining, etc) in one place, but I can’t access any other transactions. And searches on Projects conveniently do not appear to have access to the Charges table….so….am I stuck building and populating a custom record with a scheduled script?

Hi, question about subprojects. Is there a way to include the transactions of subprojects in the main project in reports? I mean if I have for example a report 'invoices by project' or 'sales orders by project', it would show only the main project (or at least main and subprojects grouped) and the amounts would be a total amount of main project and all subprojects together. So if I want to know how much we have invoices for Project X that has also subprojects Z and Y, I would get a total amount of X+Z+Y, not all three separated. And the same fore forecasts etc. We are interested to know the total amount of the whole project, instead of all separately.

You could probably do this in a saved search - but the formula for doing it would be abstract. Something along the lines of NVL({parent.id},{id}) as your grouping - of course, the field reference is probably wrong there, and you'd have to replicate other logic into the search.
