Question for those familiar with OneWorld and consolidated exchange rates. When we run balance sheet reports, the ending balance for an account is different than the opening balance. We have a balance in the CTA account, which I think is normal after reading NetSuite documentation. What's the normal way to handle this? Do you book an entry to offset the variance or is there some other work around? (PS not an accountant but an accountant super user is asking me what to do).

Are your rates set up correctly? If so - I would expect the CTA to be minimal

A larger balance might be indicative of an incomplete elimination

I'd probably run trial balances for elimination subsidiaries and make sure there isn't a large entry in CTA. CTA is where NS posts "hey I have no clue how to balance this JE" to.

Ok I'll tell the accountant to start there and see if that helps answer their question. I hope our rates our set up correctly, but I honestly couldn't tell you!

Generally JE's to CTA are heavily discouraged

If you have to do a JE to CTA - it means something else is messed up

Yeah - the only problem is finding the transactions that caused it

I once had someone turn on charge for handling well after a ship method had been used

and it somehow threw a ship method out of balance in historical locked periods.. I had to deep dive and get super creative to find the transaction because it's not really "posted"

If I remember right, it was some kind of nasty case statement combining NVL and debit and credit amounts to look where it didn't equal 0 on the overall transaction
