It's a ttf, that won't be how it works. You'll need to know which font glyph to use

Yeah, the available without login setting is necessary, I believe, similar to image files. Not sure why, exactly, but it must be an access issue when the BFO engine runs to generate the PDF.

Ahhh - though mine was available without*** login, I think I may have been trying a glyph that wasn't in the specific TTF I uploaded. I tried the one in @PNJ's example and it worked. Thanks for both your help @scottvonduhn

You aren't considered "authenticated" on the backend for some reason so there's no valid session to validate you're logged in which is why it has to be available without login. Most likely its the same reason you can't call a suitelet from a serverside script unless its marked "availabie without login".

Any ideas on how I can add the currency for the invoice on a customer statement?

@pen one are you using the multi-currency statement, or the standard statement? In the multi-currency statement you can use

statement.currencysymbol

.

All invoices (and any other transactions) within the same pdf would be the same currency

Hello all. Does anyone know if/how to pull URL of a custom field type Document? I am using

<pdfset>

to add existing PDF to end of ADVPDF print of transaction. If I have a custom field of the type Document that stores the PDF file I want added, how can I insert the url of the file in this field in the src attribute of the

<pdf>

tag?

@Aria Ghahari I would first test this with knowing the files URL to see if the "Available without login" box would restrict you at all

Try the <pdf src="[KNOWN URL TO A FILE]"></pdf> to see if that file can be read without the "Available without login" box being checked. If you can access that file without it being "Available without login", then you may have hope. If you can't - in order to complete your goal, you'd need users to open the file in the file cabinet and mark that checkbox each time they add a file to the transaction, which might cause many other headaches

Now that I think about it - I've tried this before but decided against it for privacy reasons. I do believe youd need to mark the files as "Available without login" in order to use them in the PDF form. And that was too much of a security risk for our company as the files we wanted were Purchase Orders that could contain personal information from companies. So we decided against moving forward. Though if the files you are wanting to print aren't secure, you could have users mark that "Available without login" box when they are choosing the file on the original transaction. Though, if they forget to - you will get errors when trying to print. So this may be one of those "Is it possible?... yes... Should you do it?... probably not" scenarios

@ericbirdsall Crazy thought, but you might be able to leverage a script to temporarily make the file available without login (if not already), perform the PDF print, then revert the setting back to the prior value. How are the PDF’s being generated?

In our case, we wanted to print the Customers PO when a Picking Ticket printed. So the PDFs were being generated when a User was on the "Print Picking Tickets" screen

yeah, we did that for a PDF (set available w/o login, attach to PDF, uncheck available w/o login) but it was already a scripted PDF (generated by a custom button rather than native print) so it was relatively easy to add in that functionality. FYI for images, text, and fonts (and hopefully more filetypes in the future?) there's a new "available company-wide" checkbox you can use which has fewer security concerns. still would need to ensure it's checked first but could be easier to sell having everyone check that box on every file just in case.

If you can deploy a user event script on picking tickets, you can make a small UE script that runs in the print context only to check that box. However, not sure you’d be easily able to then uncheck it afterwards, except maybe with a scheduled workflow or script to uncheck that box

@amy So I set my test PDF file to "Company-Wide Usage" and unchecked the "Available without Login" - and I wasn't able to use that PDF in a form using

<pdf src="URL_TO_TEST_PDF_MARKED_AS_COMPANY_WIDE"></pdf>

PDFs unfortunately aren't one of the valid file types NS supports for it (or at least, that was true when i researched it last year). if PDF did get added though or if you want to try with a different filetype, you do have to use different syntax - an example for images would be

<@filecabinet nstype="image" src="URL for image"/>

I've never seen that syntax before! Is there documentation that?

not as much as i'd like haha! there's a bit in SA 37679 and in SA 26500 but not much outside of that that i could find - i ended up having to contact NS support last year to find out what other file types it supported since it's not clearly outlined anywhere
